Ferneyhough family history
Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
Who is responsible
Darren Ferneyhough runs this site and is responsible for the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Messages and branch submissions you send us: your name, email, country, the family information you give, and any files you attach (photos, documents or GEDCOM family-tree files). Attached files are stored in private storage with our hosting provider (Vercel); they are not public, and only the site owner can open them. They are never published without your consent.
- Consent records: what you ticked, the date and the version of this policy.
- Site statistics, only if you accept analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies and collects data such as your approximate location and device. It is switched on only after you click Accept on the banner, and you can decline. We do not use advertising cookies.
Why we use it
To reply to you, to research and connect family lines, and (only where you consent) to publish information about people who have died. Legal basis: your consent, and our legitimate interest in running a non-commercial family-history study.
What we publish
In general only people recorded as deceased are published. The exception is living public figures with a documented public career (for example artists, academics or sportspeople), who may appear on the Notable people page using publicly available professional information only. We do not publish photographs or private details of living people in the family-tree pages. See the privacy rules on the site.
Who sees it
Only the site owner and, with your consent, other researchers you are being put in touch with. We use hosting, form and analytics services (Vercel and Google) that process data on our behalf. We never sell data.
How long we keep it
Submissions are kept while the project is active so that we can keep your line up to date, then deleted. You can ask for deletion at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to withdraw consent, or to have an entry removed from the site. Use the contact form; we aim to reply within 30 days. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Descendants of the people we publish
If you are a descendant or relative of someone we have published and want the entry changed or removed, tell us and we will act on it.
Changes
We will post any changes here with a new date.
